In addition to regular services of praise and worship St Peter’s hosts and participates in a number of regular and annual activities. Our annual events in particular provide vital income that help us to maintain our Church for the benefit and service of our community. An overview of these activities is provided below. Please check our Parish newsletter for date, time and venue for each activity.
Sunday school normally takes place every second Sunday of the month, at 10.00am in Fordcombe Church of England Primary School. All children are most welcome. Toward the end of the Sung Eucharist in the Church we are joined by the Sunday School where the leader provides an update of what the children have been learning and the children share with us their work.
Volunteers maintain the grounds of our church to keep them clear of leaves, weeds and moss; especially our pathways. A safe environment for young ones and older folk is important to us. If you have a few moments to spare and would like to join us, whether you have “green fingers” or not, you would be most welcome.
An opportunity to meet for an informal chat and discussion over a relaxing cup of coffee.
Meal and a Pint
A social evening at the Chafford Arms; a chance to meet with old friends and make new. A meal, with vegetarian alternative, and drink are provided at an extremely competitive price. Please join us if you can. To help with catering, please contact the Chafford Arms and advise them that you wish to attend the “meal and a pint” social evening, the date and number in your party.
Fordcombe Village Fete
A great day out for all the family. Held in September in the village hall and adjacent field, “the cricket ground”, the fete includes competition entries for vegetable growers, photographers, flower arrangers, jam and cake makers. Dog showing, vintage cars and a host of side stalls including bric-a-brac, coconut shy, bell ringing, teas, cakes, raffles and much, much more make our village fete a must visit event.
Church Christmas Fair
A festive occasion held in the Village Hall at the end of November. For younger ones there is a chance to meet Father Christmas and an ideal opportunity to find stocking fillers. Our stalls include toys, cards, handmade items as well as cakes. Refreshments are available together with raffle prizes; the most recent included an Apple i-pad mini and quality Christmas hamper!
